Civics Action Program Launches New Cohort

Two youth stand side by side at a tabling event

COA has officially launched a new cohort of our Civics Action Program (CAP), with the intent of building the next generation of community leaders.

CAP is a hybrid civic engagement and youth leadership pipeline for young people under 30 who are ready to deepen their skills in public policy, community organizing, legislative advocacy, and electoral engagement. Cohorts include 6–10 participants who commit 4–6 hours per week, learning through real-world experience tied directly to the legislative session and electoral cycle.

From February to May, fellows engage directly in policymaking: attending city council meetings, meeting with legislators, participating in testimony workshops, and learning how to shape policy through coalition building and strategic advocacy. From August to November, the focus shifts to youth-powered electoral engagement: canvassing, phonebanking, voter education, and relational organizing. We also offer summer fellowships that blend policy and electoral training.

CAP isn’t theoretical; it’s hands-on, community-rooted leadership development.
